Board Of Directors Nominations
The Role
The volunteer Board of Directors establishes the strategic direction of the organization on behalf of the members and ensures that the resources of the organization are focused on the mission and vision of the RHBOT.
Together with the management team, the Board of Directors is committed to ensuring that all RHBOT's activities - advocacy, leadership, policies - assist members in their businesses and improving the quality of life in our community.
The Board of Directors is also responsible for vision and stewardship; selection, support and evaluation of the Executive Director; financial, legal and risk oversight; governance of the organization through sound policies, structures and procedures; and ongoing communication with members and leaders of both business and government.
The Responsibilities
Board members are expected to:
-
Be prepared for and attend a minimum of 8 and up to 12 Board meetings per year;
-
Actively participate on at least one Board Committee;
-
Attend other activities and events offered by the RHBOT
Additionally, Directors are expected to be available for regular email discussion and teleconferences should the need arise.
The Term
Director at Large terms is for three years.
The Reward
The voice of Board Directors is important. Participating in Board discussions and expressing your opinions is highly valued. Respectful consideration of the opinions of others is necessary. Besides being part of the decision-making process, being a Director is a wonderful learning opportunity to develop a broad perspective on issues affecting business and government. We strongly encourage prospective Board Directors to talk to the current (and past) Board Directors to seek perspective on their experience.
