Established in 1978, Yellow Brick House was founded to support abused women and children in York Region, initially providing shelter services and later expanding to encompass community counseling and supportive services. Annually assisting over 6,000 individuals, with a significant number originating from Vaughan, Markham, and Richmond Hill, Yellow Brick House offers a wide range of support, including emergency shelters, crisis hotlines, legal assistance, transitional support, counseling for both women and children, education programs, and online training modules. By providing comprehensive wrap-around services, Yellow Brick House not only saves lives but also contributes to reducing workplace absenteeism, improving productivity, and mitigating the negative effects of abuse on family health and healthcare costs.
